Steam Engines
The era of steam trains lasted longer than any other period of rail history, beginning in the 1790's and lasting through the 1950's. This golden age of steam-driven railroads makes up one of the largest groups of tin toys produced.

Most friction, wind-up, or battery-operated trains represent the steam engine era of the 1920's through the 1950's.
